During the formation of the written literary language, the process of replenishing vocabulary with new words becomes one of the important stages. This article examines the ways of how the socio-political and commonly used vocabulary borrowed from Russian become incorporated into the Karelian language. This research focuses on articles published in the first issue of the newspaper "Kolhozoin puoleh" whose release may be considered one of the first results of ‘karelization’ in the 30s of the 20th century of the Karelians living in the Upper Volga region.
