In 1949 with the aim to disseminate widely "The Kalevala" epic poem Otto Kuusinen published cut version of the text rendered in the Finnish language. The book was presented in the form of gift edition. In second half of the 20th century the issue of new "The Kalevala" translation occupied many letaratural minds and in 1960s O. Kuusinen’s rendition was published. The attempt to cooptate the text to the current standarts of the Russian language provoked mixed feedback resulting in two separate editions of the epic poem dated 1970 and 1974.
