This article examines dialectal dictionaries of the Karelian language as a source of emotive, abusive, invective and obscene vocabulary. Special attention is paid to stylistic markings, which often do not accurately reflect the emotional and expressive assessment of a particular lexical unit. The material for the research was both Russian and Karelian dictionaries published in Finland.
