The fact that the Erzyans of the Novomalyklinsk district of Ulyanovsk region lived isolated from the bulk of the Erzya people contributed to the preservation of archaic phenomena in case paradigms. The analysis of the linguistic material revealed differences between the case paradigms of the Erzya dialects in the area under studying and the corresponding paradigms of the codified language. The structure of the analyzed case forms of the definite declension singular is the most consistent and logical.
